The Aufwind-JugendhilfeGmbH

Aufwind Jugendhilfe GmbH is a non-denominational, independent and non-governmental youth welfare organization. Aufwind-Jugendhilfe GmbH was founded in 2010 by Benjamin Bruns in cooperation with the Dortmund Youth Welfare Office. It now employs around 150 staff at various locations. These locations provide outpatient and inpatient child, youth and family support services across the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The local care unit Westerfilde, which is located not far from our company headquarters in Dortmund Marten, has set itself the task of giving young people and families, regardless of their past, the chance to lead a self-determined life and to support them according to their individual needs. In addition, Aufwind-Jugendhilfe provides local families with socio-pedagogical support and guidance in raising their children on an outpatient basis in order to uncover and utilize the resources within the family.

Our goals

Giving young people a chance to lead a self-determined life

The local care unit Westerfilde follows the agency's own concept of independence. Our aim is to smooth and facilitate our clients' path to a self-determined life.

In line with our vision, we strive to place the wishes and needs of our clients at the center of our work.We respond to the lifeworlds of young people with individual offers of help that contribute to leading an autonomous life.

In doing so, we pay attention to appreciation and respect as well as needs-oriented care based on trust and commitment.

In addition to the apartments for independent living in the immediate vicinity of the office, we offer our clients a mix of open youth work and intensive educational support in our low-threshold day structure, which gives them the opportunity to come together and realize themselves together in various projects. Joint activities such as karting, climbing, visits to the Christmas market or swimming are part of our program and are discussed and carried out with our young people and families.

The residential offer is characterized by spacious apartments in which our residents live alone or in pairs in a shared flat and are supervised and accompanied by permanent caregivers.

This gives them the opportunity to try out and experiment with independence and everything that goes with it in a protected environment in the neighborhood in order to be optimally prepared for life after youth welfare.

The protected and confidence-building environment opens up future prospects in training and working life, so that a self-determined, socially conforming lifestyle can be made possible.
